God put a big vision on the heart of pastor Gary Mason: change the hearts of his congregation so they would care about the eternal souls of people around them.
Mason, pastor of Medicine Hat Family Church in southern Alberta, decided to do what he calls a six-week evangelism “blitz”. And My Hope, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s video ministry, was a key part of it.
“I had three evangelists speak here during that time (including one from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada),” he said. “It got our people thinking about souls and it shifted some things in the spiritual realm.”
Members of Family Church showed one of the My Hope videos in their homes and “it really opened some doors with people around the community,” said Mason.
So what would he tell other pastors or church leaders who are wondering whether My Hope is a useful evangelism tool?
“I’d tell them I’m looking to change mind-sets and I found My Hope very valuable to get people thinking outside their boxes. As a pastor, that’s invaluable to me.”
