3 Ways to Overcome Fear (courtesy of Moses)

October 31 is a popular holiday that capitalizes on the emotion of fear, but — as a participant in My Hope with Billy Graham — you may find fear rising up in you for reasons unrelated to that date.
It may be because there is just ONE day left until the month when My Hope with Billy Graham culminates. With nationwide airings of Mr. Graham’s long-awaited message titled “The Cross,” thousands of home gatherings are being planned – hopefully, including YOUR home!
You’ve prayed, trained, built relationships, issued invitations and made preparations. Technically, you are as ready as you can be…but are you still having trouble shaking that 4-letter word: F-E-A-R?
Believe it or not, you have reason to be encouraged! The Bible tells about a hero of the faith that was in your shoes. His name is Moses and you just might identify with his words in Exodus.
Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?”. . .  Moses said to the Lord , “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” . . . (Exodus 4:1, 10 NIV)
Are you fearful that…
….your invited guests will not come?
….your guests will not listen to or believe you?
…you will not be eloquent or have the words to say?
…there will be no response to the invitation to receive Christ?
Moses was.
The Lord, however, told Moses: “Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” (verse 12)
From this scripture, we learn 3 Ways to Overcome Fear (courtesy of Moses):
1. PRAY-Tell the Lord your specific fears.
2. CONFESS- Place your own sin, insecurities and shortcomings in His hands.
3. GO- He will be with you in that moment and will give you the words to say.
Being intentional about practicing these 3 steps has the power to replace fear with confidence, and to open the door for God to do more than you can imagine. When we make ourselves available for God to use, He takes over from there. He knows your heart and He loves those you’ve invited to your home more than you – so trust Him, launch out, and see what He does!
The same God of Moses will also help you speak and will teach you what to say.”
Now go!
