It's Not All On You

How do you approach the daunting challenge of getting unbelieving (even resistant) loved ones acquainted with Jesus?
You don’t have to be perfect (none of us are). But as you live your daily life, depending on Jesus, those close to you will see the difference—and they may wonder why you’re different. You have a hope in Him that helps you rise above your weaknesses and vulnerabilities. Your life shows them how God has walked with you during your dark moments (see our last blog post for more on this).
Relax, it’s not all on you.  Their salvation does not rest on your shoulders.
The One who convicts of sin and confirms truth is the Holy Spirit. Our job is just to share the Gospel. He does the rest. You can be just as faithful a witness as Billy Graham, even if no one comes to Christ. You pray, you share your testimony to the Gospel’s power in your life, and you give an invitation. That’s what Billy Graham has done. The listener’s response is the work of the Holy Spirit, our “Helper” (John 14:26).
Remember, YOU can’t change their lives. God does that!
My Hope Canada with Billy Graham is a starting point. It helps for you to make a simple list of these loved ones, and daily ask God to draw them into a relationship with Jesus. Your responsibility is simply to:
1. Recognize the need.
2. Pray.
3. Look for opportunities to build relationships.
4. Share your faith story with them when the time comes.
5. Invite them to invite Jesus into their life like you did.
Then…Pray. Rest. Let the Holy Spirit do the work!
“And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment” (John 16:8, ESV).
